Frick off. Games became sh*t when they tried to be realistic. The rule of cool is what made gaming larger than life back in the 80s-2000s. It's the same pose as Guts from Berserk, which looks badass when he does it, because he's physically huge.

Even fictional worlds need rules and boundaries for the suspension of disbelief to work. Even in the world of DS, swords are weapons with sharp edges, right? So driving that sh*t straight into your shoulder would be stupid, even in a fictional setting- Anonymous

Ah yes, suspension of disbelief in a world that has all sorts of impossible sh*t and fighting bosses that are 50x bigger than the player character. But carrying the sword on your shoulder is unrealistic.

Yep. And then he takes the edge of that giant blade that he just used to slay a giant dragon and plops it right down on his shoulder. Immersion shattered

It's not at all. You're just painfully low IQ and mesmerized by "SO COOL... JUST LIKE MY JAPANESE ANIMES" slop. It's all about internal consistency. If the blade is sharp enough to slay giant dragons, it should easily cut through his shoulder if he just rested it on his shoulder edge first. Simple as

Funny, I seem to remember the series taking off in popularity specifically due to its pseudo-realistic physics where you weren't flying around like generic animu trash which gave its combat a degree of believability, making it far more immersive.

They already do essentially have two breakpoints, since you "gain" a +50% bonus to STR when two-handing. Using a two-handed sword should be cumbersome with one hand; however, what I think they need to do is incorporate more movesets like they created with the Milady. There's NO reason that the light greatsword moveset shouldn't also be applied to other greatswords and even some colossals. Go look at real life zweihander combat. They can be agile as frick.

Wow there buckaroo, next you're gonna say DEX should increase the amount of strikes you can deliver or allow you to Sekiro-parry
Not gonna be dishonest anon, if stats at different values increased how easy you can wield a weapon or give it special effects it would be kino but good luck making From Soft upgrade their engine for such things, besides bosses and AOW they are really conservative with their mechanics.- Anonymous

Then perhaps a way to mitigate it would be
>if STR is sufficient enough you can perfectly block STR attacks / enemies(anything / anyone that would be considered heavy)
>apply the same with DEX but for DEX attacks / enemies (like being able to perfectly block Malania-like attacks)
I know that you can't summarize the specifics but it's a bit sad that you have the same moveset regardless of stats.
>Level INT
>Pebble becomes a high velocity bullet
Would be unbalanced as frick when it came to invasion mechanics. Maybe a solo / co-op only with duels game would work.

Actual reasons to pump stats beyond the softcap would be welcome so it's not just the same meta sh*t build every single game. softcaps not existing would also be welcome so that people have to actually choose to sacrifice damage for health/carry weight/stamina/ect instead of getting their cake and eating it too as long as they're high enough level.

Reusing animations and animation rigs is 90% of the reason that From Software can remain a functional company.
The one time they tried to make all of their animations from scratch for a 7th gen game they were lucky to even release a game.
Let's be entirely honest here, most of their animation rigs are probably pilfered from their collaboration with Japan studio and are treated as Standard Template Constructs.- Anonymous

It honestly really depends, the vast majority of weapon classes cycles between two different R1 or R2 cycles.
There's some outliers to this, e.g. the Zamor Greatsword having a fully unique and sh*tty set of R1 animations, or the Cane Sword having a fully unique rolling/crouch R1 and the Flame Mace or Urumi having unique R2s, but those are extreme exceptions to the rule.- Anonymous

Not really what I mean. I don't want to swing another straight sword or greatsword up and down with the R2 being a stab or a side slash. Update all of it. Stop with the curved sword being the same with the same fwoop fwoop, stop having ultragreatswords be just the DS1 zweihander 90% of the time. It's so lame that they removed the vertical Greatsword R1 and placed it on some R2's. Godslayer's animation were a step in a better direction but that moveset is very rare.>Most of these animations are over a decade old
why fix something that isn't broken? you don't have to swing a common sword differently just because
they gave some weapons new movesets so you can stick to them
>Stop with the curved sword being the same with the same fwoop fwoop, stop having ultragreatswords be just the DS1 zweihander 90% of the time

Another gripe - I really hate that often when you get a boss weapon you get a small gay cosplay version of it. Obviously you can't do Radahn size swords but c'mon, Gael's greatsword should've been a colossal weapon. I remember getting Marais Executioner's sword, trying it out and immediately putting it away.
