Earlyne Olivia Smith Allison, age 99 of Stevenson, passedaway Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Mrs. Allison was born on January 16, 1921, in Paint RockValley, Alabama. She was the oldestchild of Winston T. and Ethel Plaster Smith. A graduate of Florence State Teachers College,she taught 6th grade in Stevenson for 30 years. She was married to Edwin Davis Allison(deceased 2002), who was a local grocer and banker. There in Stevenson, they raised their only daughter,Andrea Lynne Allison Flippen.
Mrs. Earlyne was a member of the StevensonCumberland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, directed theSummer Bible School program and sang in the Church Choir. She was active inseveral organizations including the Stevenson Book Club, the Stevenson Chamberof Commerce, the Stevenson Marching Band Parents Organization, the American CutGlass Association, the Stevenson Organization of Active Women, the HighlandAmbassadors, and the Girl Scouts of North Alabama. In 2015, she was inducted into the Foy Societyat Auburn University, highlighting her continuous support of Auburn Athleticsfor over 67 years.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered byher survivors: Daughter – Andrea Allison(Murphree Shaw, Sr.) Flippen. Grandsons– Murphree Shaw Flippen, Jr., Jerald Edwin (Stacy Heyer) Flippen, and JohnAllison (Christopher Swope) Flippen. GreatGranddaughters – Anna Claire Flippen and Lillian Allison Flippen.
In place of flowers, the family requests that contributionsbe made to the Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family would like to recognize and thankthe staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center andShoals Hospice of Florence, Alabama.
