@Aoki_Games Old Man: I-I hear a villager was found dead in the woods… Some *people* said they saw some kind of wolf monster wandering near there… What if it attacks the village?
Chloe: How frightening!
I removed the sentence about the old man being scared since it sounded unnatural and you can make him sound scared by saying “what if it attacks the village?” and by putting the “I-I” stutter at the beginning (I added a picture of an example of this.) This shows he is concerned for his safety, and can even help move the story along.
I changed villagers to people, based on the context it sounded redundant to say villagers there.
I changed woods to “there”, since you said woods already so it sounds a little repetitive.
In real life it would make sense for someone to say “I’m sorry to hear that.” when someone dies, but in a fantasy game it doesn’t really fit.

@Aoki_Games Yeah, “What if” is a good way to discuss potential things. It can be used to show someone is worried about something bad happening. You can also use it to suggest doing something: “what if we go down that hallway?”

“What (are we going to do) if we go down the hall?”
どうするor なるかな explains “What are we going to do.”
You could say like “廊下を通ったらどうする?”

@ringomouth
Good question!
どうする means “what do you do?”, while どうなる means “what happens?”
Here are examples:
What would you do if a meteorite fell from the sky?
「空から隕石が落ちてきたらどうするの?」
What would happen if a meteorite fell from the sky?
「空から隕石が落ちてきたらどうなるの?」
Makes sense?
